A message from Danielle

Therapy is an opportunity to put yourself and your needs first. As your therapist, I will thoroughly listen to your goals and what you want to achieve out of therapy because I believe that you are the expert of your own life. There is no one right way to live, heal or thrive. As your therapist, I will facilitate conversations for change, not tell you how to live life. I focus on what is working for you currently and what YOU would like to change going forward.

I believe that the person is not the problem, the problem is the problem. Labels and diagnoses are only something that my clients are dealing with, not who they are. Through externalizing the problem, I will assist you in separating yourself from the problem and instead view it as something outside of you that you can gain control over. In doing so, we can help free you from living in a way that is based on limitations and help you take charge of your life.

  • I received my masters degree in marriage and family therapy. This label is misleading because I am qualified to work with individuals, groups, families and couples. What differentiates marriage and family therapy from other mental health professions is the relational and systemic approach to our work.

Marriage and family therapists hold the belief that healing occurs through our relationship with ourselves and the world around us. Even if a single client is present, the relational systems in which this client is embedded are taken into account. Including but not limited to intersectionality, familial background, current relationships, adverse childhood experiences, the school system, occupation, social circles, cultural context and society at large. Through therapy, I can help you thrive in your relationship with yourself and the world around you.

Many people who grew up under chaotic circumstances hold limiting narratives that are affecting their current social, relational, occupational and emotional well-being. People create narratives for themselves and the world around them based on their experiences, societal expectations and dominant discourses. Some of these narratives are helpful and some are not so helpful. In assisting clients in re-writing the narratives they have for themselves and others I free clients from holding on to societal expectations, limiting self-beliefs and negative encounters from the past. Through freeing yourself from these expectations I can help you live a life that feels authentic to you.
