Offering individual, couples, and group therapy, ketamine-assisted therapy, medication management…
Ketamine-assisted psychotherapy (KAP) at Acheron is a comprehensive, medically supervised program that includes not only the medicine but the advanced psychotherapy support needed to make the most of ketamine’s potential.
Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) at Acheron is a structured, depth-oriented treatment that combines psychotherapy with carefully facilitated ketamine sessions to enhance emotional flexibility, access entrenched patterns, and accelerate therapeutic progress.
At Acheron, KAP is not a single intervention, but a thoughtfully guided process—one that unfolds over time through preparation, carefully facilitated medicine sessions, and integration. When held in this way, the work can open space for meaningful and lasting psychological change.
KAP has been shown to suspend the brain’s Default Mode Network (DMN), increase connectivity, and boost synaptogenesis. The result? Decreased depression, anxiety, pain, suicidality, and hospitalizations.1

Our 6-session Foundational series provides the depth to move beyond exploratory work into lasting reorganization. This recommended starting arc is designed to establish safety, deepen insight, and build a strong therapeutic foundation.
The series begins with a complete evaluation, along with any stabilization or symptom control before KAP.
1. Structured Preparation sets the stage for your experience, establishing trust and setting expectations.
2. Ketamine Medicine Sessions are conducted in our safe, tranquil space, under medical supervision. Ketamine may be administered via oral lozenge or intramuscular injection.
3. Integration Therapy leverages medicine-induced brain plasticity and helps translate insights into meaningful emotional and habitual changes.
“What is KAP and how does it work?”
Before beginning treatment, learn what Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy is, how it differs from ketamine alone, and why psychotherapy and integration are central to the healing process.
“Simple ways to prepare your body and mind.”
Learn practical tips for the days leading up to treatment. Hear suggestions and safety information on what to bring, medications to avoid, and how to arrive feeling calm, comfortable, and ready for your ketamine session.
“A guided walkthrough of your treatment experience.”
See what happens from the moment you arrive through the dosing experience, therapist support, and the immediate recovery period.
“The experience doesn’t end when the medicine wears off.”
Learn how integration helps make meaning of your experience, why therapy is so important afterward, and how healing continues in the days that follow.
We encourage starting with a Foundational series of six treatments, paired with integration sessions after each ketamine session. If you would like to try a ketamine experience before committing to the series, we recommend Continuum, which is a supportive group atmosphere. Continuum groups include patients who have completed a Foundational series and are in maintenance treatment as well as patients new to ketamine and trying a clinical ketamine experience for the first time.
A prescriber evaluation and one preparation intake session with the group facilitators are required before a Continuum group.
To get the most of your experience, we recommend (but do not require) participation in our weekly integration group (or individual integration therapy) for emotional processing and meaning-making, enhanced by ketamine-induced neuroplasticity.
The Foundational series is best completed as individual treatment (after evaluation and preparation). We understand that some people may prefer a group environment, so we encourage you to discuss this with your treatment team. Some of our clients choose to begin with a Continuum medicine group experience, a specialized KAP group, or medicine workshop.
Ketamine can be given in an intramuscular injection or in a sublingual lozenge. They can be equally effective, but some individuals may find that one method or the other works better for them. If needed, we can adjust course according to your needs and preferences.
A higher dose is not always more effective. As you acclimate to the protocol, you may find that you can have ego-loosening, deep, expansive healing and growth experiences at lower doses than you might anticipate. Given that side effect risk can increase with dose (as with any medicine), we always try to utilize the lowest effective dose.
We are in-network with Aetna and Cigna, so the therapy portions of the Foundational series are often covered by insurance (subject to deductibles and co-pays). For those with other insurance, we can provide superbills for possible out-of-network reimbursement. Ketamine medicine sessions are typically not covered or reimbursable.
If you do not have insurance, or don’t wish to use your coverage, we have self-pay options with discounts for the Foundational series as well as for ongoing packages.
Please contact us to discuss payment.
