Psychotherapist, LMHC
Sara Meltzer
Sara enjoys working with individuals and couples from all backgrounds ranging in age from 20s-60s. She believes we are all relational beings and she is particularly interested in how our relationships shape who we are. Her clients are curious, creative and eager to gain insight into who they are and to take accountability for how they show up and how they want to empower themselves to make positive change in their lives.

A message from Sara
Ipseity, the discovery of authentic selfhood and individuality, is the unique goal that illuminates each of my therapeutic relationships. And, well, it is an awesome word that has wholeheartedly become central to my way of working whether that be with my clients, or in my own life. Therapy is challenging, but committing to oneself or to another is brave and rewarding. We all get stuck in our own ways. Working with me is about coming together in an entirely safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space, to experience true compassionate honesty and acceptance. Together, we can deepen your connection to yourself and in your relationships; help you ground in your purpose; and thrive, because you deserve to thrive.

Becoming a therapist is a path I have come to later in life. For many years, I owned a contemporary art gallery in New York City. I loved working with artists and fostering their journeys as they expanded their practices and, together, we developed their career paths. I am also a mother of twins and I sit on the board of two nonprofit organizations. I was raised in New York City and have lived here for the majority of my life, so I am personally aware of the stresses endured. A range of personal transitions drew me to wanting to do more to support others navigating the myriad of complexities that are part of just being human in this great city. The summer before the pandemic, I made the decision to go back to New York University, for a second masters, this one in Applied Psychology, and the timing could not have been more prescient.
Now, as a therapist, I feel more grounded in myself and my purpose, and love supporting others to find their unique place of wholeness. I work integratively combining many different techniques and modalities. I believe the stories we tell ourselves about ourselves are so important, but sometimes we trap ourselves in old stories that need to be reframed to allow us to grow. That is where we focus in our work together. Are we telling the truth to ourselves and to others? Do we like the story we are telling? Is this story our authentic truth? Working with me is a dynamic and highly relational experience that explores the many dimensions of interpersonal connection, self-expression, released suppression, deepened insight, laughter, tears, and growth. In addition to my NYU training, I have been training in Psychedelic Integration Therapy, Eidetic Therapy, a visualization technique that facilitates deepening awareness, connection and motivation, and have been exploring aspects of Zen Buddhism. Life is an extraordinary journey, and I would be honored to support you as you navigate the obstacles and joys in yours.
